I Nyoman Rai is a senior tropical fruit researcher, professor in Horticulture at the Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University. His research areas are tropical fruits involving improvement of variety, application and development of Good Agricultural Practices/GAP, cultivation technology, fruits nutrition, flowering and fruiting physiology, and off-season fruit production. Currently, he is the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Udayana University and has been serving for 2 periods, 2011-2015 and 2015-2019, as well as Vice Chairman of the Bali Farmers Association (HKTI Bali) since 2007-present, the board of the Indonesia Horticultural Association (Perhorti) and Indonesia Agronomy Society (Peragi). I Nyoman Rai, has studied horticulture in Thailand, Japan and Russia, and has collaborated with various domestic and foreign institutions such as Chiba University-Japan, Yamaguchi University-Japan, JICA-Japan, Japan Bank International Corporation (JBIC), Takino Filter Inc.-Japan, Moscow State University-Russia, and Kasersart University-Thailand. He is the founder of the Bali Agricultural Communication Forum, also active as an agricultural consultant and member of the international agricultural organizations. The results of his research have been published in various reputable national and international journals, authored various books, and was awarded as the best researcher from the Rector of Udayana University  in 2013.
